Formula & BAC Estimation Method

This calculator implements the standard clinical Widmark Formula to determine blood alcohol percentages:

BAC = (Alcohol Consumed in Grams / (Gender Constant × Weight in Grams)) - (Elimination Rate × Time in Hours)

Standard standardizations:
• Gender Constant (r): 0.68 for males, 0.55 for females.
• Elimination Rate (β): ~0.015% BAC metabolization per hour.
• Stomach Modifier: Empty stomach drinking adjusts the absorption coefficient (estimated here at a 1.25 multiplier).

Example BAC Calculation

A 70 kg (154 lbs) male who has consumed 3 standard beers (42g of pure alcohol) over 2 hours:
• BAC before elimination = 42 / (0.68 × 70,000) × 100% = 0.088%.
• Metabolism subtraction = 0.015% × 2 hours = 0.030%.
• Final Estimated BAC = 0.088% - 0.030% = 0.058%.
